Enablement is the sum of actions required to and make our eDreams happen in our modern day. The Enablement framework helps with managing our lives and eDream that require managing:
- Complexity - finding an intersection of competing interests and impacting elements (people, realities).
- Risk - time, money, reputations, relationships, job and personal well-being.
- Numerous Iterations - leaning along the way, changing as understanding improves
- Multiple Years - discipline, enduring grit, fitting it in with life, securing knowledge and resources, multiple iterations of solutions, approaches and plan to get it right
The following are the components of enablement of eDream that must be addressed and aligned to make it happen.
Mission
- Who is/are pursuing the eDream? - Aspirer(s)
- Who will benefit from the mission being achieved and the problem/unmet needs being addressed? - Beneficiaries
- Who are the Decision Makers?
- Who are the Contributors that would need to help?
- What Communities may influence and/or potentially impact enablement?
- What are the Realities that may impact enablement?
- What Problem/Unmet Needs do the impacting people need addressed for them to take the desired action to achieve the mission?
- What are the 3 to 5 approaches that will demonstrate progess towards achieving the mission? - Objectives
- How will the mission be achieved and problem/unmet needs be addressed? - Solution
- How will the progress be measured to ensure the strategy and solution will achieve the mission? - Measures
- How will the beneficiaries become aware of the solution that addresses their problem/unmet needs or the impacting people know what they need to do to enable the mission? - Communication
- How will the solution become viable and sustainable? - Operational
- What Funding is required?
- What PersonalNeeds must be addressed?
- What is the Plan to make it happen?
- Completion of the defined activities and plan
Once it is understood how each enablement component needs to be addressed, it is determined whether there is a way to minimally address each of the eDream and enablement components at the same time which is called Enablement Intersection. The enablement components will evolve and iterate often as new information is learned. The way in which eDream and enablement components are address continues to iterate, the approach must still ensure an Enablement Intersection.
Enablement insight helps to understand if it is possible to make an eDream happen. Enablement offers insight into what would it take to be like Craig Venter who made his big idea to sequence the human genome happen.
